Scooter and Wheelchair Lifts Oklahoma

Newby-Vance Mobility has installed hundreds if not thousands of scooter and wheelchair lifts for Oklahomans over the past 20 + years.  Depending on your vehicle, there may be more than one solution available for your car, truck, minivan, full size van or SUV.  In general, there are 3 types of lift setups available:

Types Of Scooter or Wheelchair Lifts

  1. Platform Style Scooter & Power Chair Lift: Often considered the most user-friendly solution. You simply drive the scooter or power chair onto the platform, secure it down using tie down straps, or the optional retractable straps, then simply push a button — the lift stows away inside your vehicle.  This lift often requires the loss of use of the rear-most seats and it will also consume that space even when the scooter is not loaded.  General lift capacity for this style of lift is 350 pounds.
  2. Crane Style Scooter & Power Chair Lift:  Scooters and Power Chairs must be adapted with a docking device for the crane style lift to be connected, then begin loading.  These lifts normally have an up-down motion and an in-out motion.  Several models are available to accommodate most vehicle-mobility device applications.  General lift capacity for this style of lift is 200-400 pounds.
  3. Outside and Hitch-Style Scooter & Power Chair Lifts:  These lifts can often accommodate a larger scooter or power chair and are not so dependent on the vehicle’s interior space dimensions.  These lifts require a receiver hitch to be installed on, along with a proper wiring harness for the lift’s power supply.  This style of lift requires that the vehicle’s tongue weight capacity and receiver hitch application be carefully determined and that the application does not exceed OEM manufacturer requirements.
  4. NOTE:  There are applications that will not work for certain combinations of vehicle, scooter and power chair.  Contact Newby-Vance Mobility for these applications.
